The most important thing at the moment is to buy some time. She has to persuade the Ogress that she is more useful alive than as a garnish. Maybe she could polish the silver or organise the knives and forks while the Ogress concentrates on preparing the Ogre's supper? Somehow La Duquesa has to get the Ogress on her side, even if it is just superficially - which it will be, as the Ogress is completely devoted to her Lord and Master and when the chips are down...
It is really hard work making those enormous suppers and La Duquesa is almost certain that if she put it to her the right way the Ogress could be persuaded that she could use some help.
But what would be the right way? She is very proud of her prowess as a housewife so La Duquesa has to be very careful not to usurp that territory. Maybe it would be better to appeal to her maternal instinct, which is enormously strong even though she has to make the occasional pie of her children to keep the Ogre happy.
It would be quite interesting to see what the Ogre is like!
